Hand Gesture Recognition Using Color Tracking Techniques

In this work, appearance based approach in recognizing human hand gestures aimed to control virtual environments is investigated. Major visual-tracking algorithm categories are identified and popular examples like Kalman Filter and CAMShift are used, and then evaluated in terms of their real time performance. Geared towards touchless human- computer interaction, this presents myMux, a gesture controlled music player whose inputs and control are recognized hand movements captured by a computer’s integrated Charged-Coupled Device (CCD) camera.
